Department of Health
Supporting the Information Centre to understand the nature, characteristics and effectiveness of the commercial health market to support national NHS performance management and commissioning needs as part of the Department of Health’s Informatics Review (initiated by Lord Darzi’s NHS Next Stage Review). Through interviews with a broad cross section of health and social care commissioners, providers and special health authorities, regulators and DH to capture the market need for provision of informatics tools, compared and contrasted with how this was satisfied by suppliers. Our recommendations drew on our expert understanding of the health sector and our independent, unbiased position, to outline ways to enhance the efficiency of the market.
The Information Centre for Health and Social Care
Working in partnership with the clients commercial head to develop a pragmatic commercialisation strategy in line with Re-Use of Public Sector Information regulations, Treasury guidelines and Wider Market best practice. We provided strategic advice to help shape a commercial protocol and embed a culture of understanding of the costs of service provision and when to seek recovery from third parties.
